Getting Started with Source Mode for Agents
Connect the AI assistant you already use — Claude, ChatGPT, Perplecity and more — directly to your SECLOCK account.
Source Mode for Agents is currently in limited beta. Visit the information page for more info and to apply for access to the beta.
What is Source Mode for Agents?
Source Mode for Agents connects the AI assistant you already use directly to your SECLOCK account. Once it's connected, your assistant can search our catalog, pull your own account pricing, check live inventory, build projects, and place orders on your terms account without leaving your assistant.
It's built on the Model Context Protocol (MCP), an open standard that lets AI assistants connect to outside tools and data. Because it's an open standard, you're not locked into one assistant: any MCP-capable assistant can connect to the same SECLOCK endpoint.
What do I need before I start?
An approved SECLOCK trade account. Pricing, inventory, and ordering are wholesale-only and require your login. (Confirming whether we carry a part is open to anyone, but everything account-specific runs on your account.)
An AI assistant that supports custom remote MCP connectors, on a plan that allows them. See the setup sections for your assistant below.
You'll also need one piece of information that's the same for every assistant: the SECLOCK connection address (a web link). It is:
When an assistant asks you to sign in, you'll use your normal SECLOCK.com credentials. You never paste a password into the assistant itself. The sign-in happens on SECLOCK's own secure page, and you approve the connection once.
How does signing in work?
When you add the SECLOCK connector, your assistant sends you to SECLOCK's own sign-in page to authorize it. This uses OAuth, and you authenticate with SECLOCK directly so your assistant never sees your password.
Once authorized, the connection runs under your own account and permissions. It sees your catalog and your pricing, and nothing beyond what your login already allows. And it can't place an order on its own: every order requires your confirmation and a PO number before it's submitted.
Setup
Connecting with Claude
Claude supports custom connectors on Free, Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise plans. On a personal Pro or Max plan you can add the connector yourself. On Team or Enterprise, an Owner or Primary Owner adds it once for the organization, and then each member connects individually.
INSTRUCTIONS
Reference the SECLOCK connector in a thread to have the model use it.
Connecting with ChatGPT
ChatGPT connects to custom MCP servers through Developer Mode. This is available on ChatGPT Pro, Business, Enterprise, and Edu plans — it is not available on Free or Plus. On Business, Enterprise, and Edu, a workspace admin enables Developer Mode first.
Reference the SECLOCK connector in a thread to have the model use it.
Connecting with Perplexity
Perplexity supports custom remote connectors on its paid plans (Pro, Max, and Enterprise). On an Enterprise plan, an admin may need to allow members to add connectors first.

Connecting with other models
The best way to determine if your model can access a remote MCP server is to simply ask. Most models will guide you through the setup process by asking you for the url (https://nexus.app.seclock.com/mcp/agent) and how the model authenticates (Oauth).
What can I ask once it's connected?
Talk to your assistant the way you'd talk to a technical sales rep. A few examples:
"I need fire-rated panic hardware for a 36" door in 630. What do you carry and is it in stock?"
"Price this takeoff against my account and tell me stock levels."
"Build the line for an ND80PD Rhodes, 626, Schlage C keyway."
"Set this hardware schedule up as a project with openings and sets."
"Load my standard classroom package and order four sets on PO 4471."
Your assistant does the searching, pricing, and assembling. When it's time to order, it confirms the total with you and asks for a PO number before anything is placed.
Why won't my assistant let me add a connector?
The most common reason is your plan. Custom remote MCP connectors are a paid or admin-controlled feature in most assistants — for example, ChatGPT requires Developer Mode on a Pro, Business, Enterprise, or Edu plan, and Perplexity requires a paid plan. If you're on a team or business plan, your connector may need to be enabled by an Owner or admin first. Check the setup section for your assistant above, and confirm your plan supports custom connectors.
Do I still need my SECLOCK login?
Yes. Source Mode for Agents runs on your trade account login. Your assistant is simply another way to reach the same catalog, pricing, cart, and orders you already use on SECLOCK.com. You can keep working on the website exactly as before.
